Fonts are the different styles of text you can use on your artwork to display your information. To ensure your product comes out the way you want it to, you should:

  • Package all fonts used in your artwork with the artwork file you submit.
This ensures your artwork appears the same when we open it.
  • Font should be 6pt or greater. Any fonts smaller than 6pt can be very hard to read
  • When stroking fonts, make sure that you don't use a stroke thickness of less than 0.4pt.

The artwork Resolution defines how sharp, blurry or pixelated your artwork will appear when printed. Image resolution is measured in pixels on a computer but dpi (dots per square inch) is used in printing. To ensure The best results all artwork should be provided at a minimum of 300dpi.

NOTE: If you intend to order a larger sized product, a higher dpi will ensure that your artwork does not become blurry when printed. The higher the dpi the better appearance your image will have when printed.

You can supply artwork in a variety of file formats. See below for the file types we accept.

  • Preferred
    • .pdf
    • .ai
    • .svg
  • We can also accept the following
    • .jpg, .bmp, .png, .gif, .psd, .ps, .tiff, .eps

If you don't have any artwork in the above formats, let us know and we will do out best to help you with your artwork.

Color mode is the system that defines how color is handled for printing in your artwork. There is three major color modes in artwork: CMYK, PMS and RGB. For printing our products we use the CMYK color mode system

For the best quality on your product, please ensure your artwork is uses the CMYK color mode before sending it to use, or let us know the CMYK color values your artwork needs to be printed with.

Artwork Specifications
Welcome to our artwork specifications page. You are taking the first step in getting the artwork for your magnets ready and getting your message, business or brand out into the world.

Before getting right into the nitty gritty, we’d just like to remind you that we have an extremely talented graphic design team ready and at your disposal. Their services come free with every order under our 100% Free Artwork Service. Feel free to make as many changes to an existing design or let us come up with something completely new at absolutely no cost.

Of course, if you would prefer to design your own artwork, we are always interested in seeing what our creative customers can come up with. We can produce pretty much anything you throw at us.

To ensure we can make your artwork as supplied, please see the specifications for our various products below. (All product artwork specifications can be found on their respective product pages for easy access.)

Depending on the product, some specifications and artwork requirements can vary. First, we’ll explain the requirements that encompass ALL of our products.

Colour Mode - CMYK

All of our print processes use CMYK colour printing. To ensure that there is no colour shift between the supplied artwork and the printed product, please ensure that art files have had colours converted to CMYK.

Resolution - 300dpi Minimum

The higher the resolution, the better the finished product. A resolution of 300dpi or more ensures a crisp, sharp finish on the printed product. Any less and you risk your artwork coming out pixelated or blurry. This is particularly important when using photos as they are not something we able to recreate. Some larger car door magnets may require an even higher dpi. Don’t worry though, if we believe your artwork will come out pixelated, we’ll let you know before we go to print.

File Formats - .pdf or .ai are preferred

Ultimately the files you provide will depend on what you need from us. If you are supplying print-ready artwork, we prefer .pdf or .ai files.

If you would like us to make any changes to the artwork, or would like us to design from scratch, we can use almost anything that you provide us. Where possible, these files should be provided unflattened for easier editing.

The files we accept include, but are not limited to .pdf, .ai, .jpg, .png, .svg, .eps, .tiff, .ps, .psd, .bmp, .gif.

If you don’t have any of these, just send us what you have and we will see what we can do.

If you are using a Mac, please ensure you have file extensions enabled before submitting artwork.

All products all require both bleeds and safe zones however depending on the product being ordered, the exact requirements may be different. See definitions of these below.

Bleed

Without bleed, if your artwork was cut 0.01mm differently than intended, you would notice it straight away. Bleed ensures you don’t have any white borders or edges on your design. It is an extension of your design that we print so that, when cut, the design still looks perfect.

Safe Zone

The safe zone is kind of like the opposite of bleed. Without a safe zone, if your artwork was cut 0.01mm differently than intended, there is a possibility that text or images may be cut off. The safe zone ensures that the important information that is necessary for the design does not get cut off.

Mister Magnets manufactures include three different kinds of products that utilise a customer’s artwork. These are:

  • Fridge Magnets
  • Magnetic Signs
  • Flyers / Mailer Cards

Fridge Magnet Artwork Information

Fridge magnets are by far our most popular product. When it comes to managing artwork for fridge magnets, there is no company with more expertise and experience than us.

There are three different cut types for fridge magnets and the artwork requirements for these can vary due to differences in their manufacturing process.

Straight Edge Fridge Magnets

Straight Edge Fridge Magnets are either square or rectangular and have pointed corners. They can be manufactured the fastest and are generally cheaper than other fridge magnet cut types.

Bleed - 1.5mm outside the magnet design area.

Safe Zone - 3mm inside the magnet design area.

We have a template generator available for straight edge fridge magnets. Simply select your desired size and download. Further instructions are available on the template itself. Templates are also available on the specific product page.

Rounded Corner Fridge Magnets

Rounded Corner Fridge Magnets are either square or rectangular and have rounded corners. They are die cut and are generally manufactured in 2 - 4 working days.

Bleed - 2mm outside the magnet design area.

Safe Zone - 3mm inside the magnet design area.

We have a template generator available for rounded corner fridge magnets. Simply select your desired size and download. Further instructions are available on the template itself. Templates are also available on the specific product page.

Shaped Fridge Magnets

Shaped Fridge Magnets are available in any shape or size. They are die cut and are generally manufactured in 2 - 4 working days.

Bleed - 2mm outside the magnet design area.

Safe Zone - 3mm inside the magnet design area.

Because our generator is unable to know exactly which shape your design will be, we are unable to generate a template for you on the fly. Templates are available on the specific product pages for existing shapes.

Magnetic Signs

Magnetic Signs are suitable for use on Car Doors, most A-Frames, or on their own. They are suitable for Outdoor use and great for advertising at a distance.

There are three different cut types for Magnetic Signs and the artwork requirements for these can vary due to differences in their manufacturing process.

Straight Edge Magnetic Signs

Straight Edge Magnetic Signs are either square or rectangular and have pointed corners. They can be manufactured the fastest and are generally cheaper than other Magnetic Sign cut types.

Due to their manufacturing process, Straight Edge Magnetic Signs require No Bleed and No Safe Zone.

We have a template generator available for straight edge magnetic signs. Simply select your desired size and download. Further instructions are available on the template itself. Templates are also available on the specific product page.

Rounded Corner Magnetic Signs

Rounded Corner Magnetic Signs are either square or rectangular and have rounded corners. They now have the same turnaround time as Straight Edged Magnetic Signs.

Due to their manufacturing process, Rounded Corner Magnetic Signs require No Bleed and No Safe Zone.

We have a template generator available for rounded corner magnetic signs. Simply select your desired size and download. Further instructions are available on the template itself. Templates are also available on the specific product page.

Shaped Magnetic Signs

Shaped Magnetic Signs are available in any shape or size. They are laser cut and are generally manufactured in 2 - 4 working days.

Bleed - 2mm outside the magnet design area.

Safe Zone - 3mm inside the magnet design area.

Because our generator is unable to know exactly which shape your design will be, we are unable to generate a template for you on the fly. Templates are available on the specific product pages for existing shapes.

Flyers / Mailer Cards

Flyers and mailer cards are cheaper than magnets however they lack the long term impact that magnets have. As such it is recommended to attach a tab to the back or tip a magnet onto them.

Flyers and mailer cards are available in straight edge only at this point in time. However, you can get any type of magnet tipped onto them.

Bleed - 2mm outside the design area.

Safe Zone - 3mm inside the design area.

Two-sided flyers should follow the artwork specifications on both sides of the artwork.

One-sided flyers should include the back page in the artwork file as a blank page.

Tabbed Flyers should include an additional file showing the desired positioning of the magnetic tab. The tab should be a 20mm x 38mm black rectangle placed where desired.

Flyers with fridge magnets attached should include an additional file showing the desired positioning of the attached fridge magnet. In this image, the magnet bleed area is not necessary and the magnet artwork should be provided separately. The magnet must fit within the flyer’s safe zone.

We have a template generator available for Flyers / Mailer Cards. Simply select your desired size and download. Further instructions are available on the template itself. Templates are also available on the specific product page.
